چکیده
As attention to indoor environmental quality (IEQ) grows, a systematic strategy for assessing IEQ in schools needs be developed. For this purpose, paper presents summary of parameters measured school classrooms characterize the thermal, acoustic, and visual environments air (IAQ). The is based on review published literature reporting measurements Europe North America past ten years. It also summarizes measurement protocols concentrations. Eighty-eight papers describing were identified analyzed. No unique standardized measuring method was used reviewed studies different measured. most often those thermal environment IAQ. former mainly comprised temperature relative humidity. latter concentrations carbon dioxide, particulate matter, radon, formaldehyde, some volatile organic compounds. acoustic noise level, reverberation time, illuminance. A few reported additional radiant temperature, operative speech intelligibility. Measurement from show inconsistency sampling duration location expressed results. Measured high variation between studies, with pollutants exceeding threshold values proposed by local and/or international organizations such as World Health Organization (WHO). This provides reference developing rating scheme uniform characterization classroom IEQ.

Indoor Air Quality in Naturally Ventilated Italian Classrooms
Characterization of indoor air quality in school classrooms is crucial to children’s health and performance. The present study was undertaken to characterize the indoor air quality in six naturally ventilated classrooms of three schools in Cassino (Italy). Indoor particle number, mass, black carbon, CO2 and radon concentrations, as well as outdoor particle number were measured within school hou...
متن کاملAnalytical solutions to compartmental indoor air quality models with application to environmental tobacco smoke concentrations measured in a house.
This paper derives the analytical solutions to multi-compartment indoor air quality models for predicting indoor air pollutant concentrations in the home and evaluates the solutions using experimental measurements in the rooms of a single-story residence. The model uses Laplace transform methods to solve the mass balance equations for two interconnected compartments, obtaining analytical soluti...
متن کاملA ventilation intervention study in classrooms to improve indoor air quality: the FRESH study
BACKGROUND Classroom ventilation rates often do not meet building standards, although it is considered to be important to improve indoor air quality. Poor indoor air quality is thought to influence both children's health and performance. Poor ventilation in The Netherlands most often occurs in the heating season. To improve classroom ventilation a tailor made mechanical ventilation device was d...
متن کاملAn Assessment of Indoor Air Quality and Thermal Comfort in Educational Spaces (Case Study: Girls' High Schools in Arak, Iran)
As students spend one-third of their time at school, their health, comfort, and productivity are mostly influenced by thermal condition and indoor air quality of classrooms. Regarding that manual window-opening is a common way for providing fresh air in classes and students aren't allowed to change their uniform, position or control the windows during the lesson hours, providing thermal comf...
